IGFA Codifies New Release Rules

"By establishing rules for what constitutes a release, the IGFA hopes to facilitate more fish making it back to the water alive and in the best possible health. "

Recreational anglers – whether weekend fishermen, world record hunters, or tournament competitors – are becoming increasingly conscious of the need to conserve the fish they love to pursue. NOAA Reopens More than 5000 Square Miles of Closed Gulf Fishing Area
NOAA has announced that 5,144 sqaure miles have been reopened to recreational and commercial fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.

NOAA Strategy for Future Re-openings
The next federal re-opening priorities include a 5,628-square mile area and a 2,927-square mile area located off eastern Louisiana, just west and south of the Mississippi River delta. NOAA is currently processing samples collected in these two areas, which could re-open within the next few weeks pending test results.
