Richard Hart recently submitted this beautiful 71-centimeter snakehead to potentially set the IGFA All-Tackle Length Fly World Record. Richard was fishing deep in the Belum-Temenggor Rainforest, the largest continuous forest in peninsular Malaysia 🇲🇾, when this fish struck his baitfish imitation fly. Richard was fishing with guide Paul Arden, and after recording the proper measurements on his official IGFA Measuring Device, he was able to release the fish safely. A big congratulations go out to the Forage Fish Research Program’s 2022-2023 Fellows Dakota Lewis and Barry Walton. The Florida Forage Fish Coalition is excited to fund these two impressive students as they undertake their research over the next year.Dakota was a previous FFRP fellow while working on her Masters degree at University of Central Florida and will now study forecasting of future estuarine fish communities using machine learning while she works towards her PhD at University of Florida.Barry, a PhD student at Florida State University, will be studying how redfish and spotted seatrout use their habitat and food resources through examination of biomarkers. John Kelly was fishing Indian River Lagoon, Florida on July 28, 2022, when this beautiful 88-centimeter snook struck his crab fly. With this fish John could potentially set the IGFA All-Tackle Length Fly World Record for the species. A record John currently holds with an 86-centimeter snook landed back in early June! What is even more impressive is John has submitted another application for a 91-centimter snook landed just 3 nights after this impressive fish. This record is currently pending and under review. ...
