Support Issue 2.6 Reference Points – Option E

MENHADEN NEED YOUR HELP

This November, the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) will make an important decision regarding the future of menhaden management – providing a historic opportunity to invest in the future of the resource and improve both fishing and ecosystem health. We need your help to make this rule-making a success.

With strong encouragement from you in favor of Issue 2.6 Reference Points – Option E of draft Amendment 3,  the Commission will choose to leave millions of menhaden in the ocean as food for fish like tarpon and striped bass. Otherwise, the commercial menhaden quota could skyrocket, jeopardizing menhaden recovery and ecosystem health.

EMAIL the ASMFC NOW to state your support for Issue 2.6 Option E, which is based on the the best available science, provides for the needs of predators, and is a common-sense way to manage this valuable public resource

ATTEND your local hearing and provide comments that will lead to the adoption of ERPs (ecological reference points) and Issue 2.6 Option E.
