Grand Slam Clubs

The IGFA’s Grand Slam Clubs honor the outstanding accomplishment of catching a collection of different game fish species within a single day. A “Grand Slam” is defined by an individual angler catching at least three of the eligible species within a category (shown below), per IGFA International Angling Rules. All catches must be made within one calendar day, and all past and present catches are eligible, provided they are properly documented.

The following designations apply to IGFA Slam Clubs:
  • Three species in a day = Grand Slam
  • Four species in a day = Super Grand Slam
  • Five species in a day = Fantasy Slam

The IGFA differentiates Slam & Trophy Clubs caught on fly tackle versus those caught on conventional gear. To be eligible for a fly tackle Slam, all of the species must be caught on fly tackle according to IGFA Rules and the class tippet must be 20-pounds or less in breaking strength. Fly and conventional tackle Slam Club members are displayed in the World Record Game Fishes book each year.

For catches made before 2012, witness information is sufficient.
