World Record Catches for November 2018
Romano's Chinook Salmon
Elyse Romano potentially set the new women’s 6 kg (12 lb) line class world record for Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) with this 9.52-kilogram (21-pound) fish that she caught and released on September 29, 2018 while fishing the Manistee River near Wellston, Michigan. Romano needed approximately 30 minutes to land the salmon after it ate the egg-patterned bait she was fishing. Once landed, the fish was quickly weighed, documented and released alive. The current world record stands at 6.23 kilograms (13 pounds, 12 ounces).
Ellenbecker's Channel Catfish
On October 13, 2018, angler Ted Ellenbecker potentially set the men’s 2 kg (4 lb) line class world record for channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) with this fish that weighed in at 8.27 kilograms (18 pounds, 4 ounces). Ellenbecker was fishing the Red River in North Dakota and needed nearly an hour to land the fish. Once subdued, the fish was weighed, documented, and released alive. The current world record stands at 7.94 kilograms (17 pounds, 8 ounces)
Bell's Taimen
While fly fishing Mongolia’s Ur River on September 30, 2018, angler Julia Bell potentially set the women’s 6 kg (12 lb) tippet class world record for taimen (Hucho taimen) with this 3.52-kilogram (7-pound, 12 ounce) fish that she caught and released. The current world record is vacant.
