Criscola's First Inshore Grand Slam

Carl Criscola recorded his first IGFA Inshore Grand Slam on September 18, 2021, while fishing with Captain Brian Helms in the Florida Keys. Carl started the day by landing a tarpon on an artificial shrimp, and then proceeded to land a bonefish on live shrimp and a permit on a live crab to complete the IGFA Inshore Grand Slam. Congratulations Carl on your Slam - hopefully the first of many!

Cronacher's Fourth Billfish Royal Slam on Fly

IGFA Chairman Roy Cronacher was fishing out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in early December 2021, when he landed this swordfish on fly. While any swordfish on fly is an incredible achievement, this fish was particularly meaningful as it was the final fish needed to complete his fourth IGFA Billfish Royal Slam on fly.  For reference, no other individual has completed more than one IGFA Billfish Royal Slam on fly tackle and this accomplishment speaks to his determination and acumen as a fly angler. Over the past three decades, Roy has traveled to eight countries to accomplish this impressive feat. Congratulations Roy on your incredible accomplishment!

Matsumoto's Inshore Grand Slam

Japanese angler Kensuke Matsumoto landed not one, but two, IGFA Inshore Grand Slams during a recent trip to Cayo Cruz, Cuba. Pictured are the fish Kensuke landed on November 30, 2021, which earned him his second IGFA Inshore Grand Slam on fly. After landing a nice bonefish to start the day, Kensuke proceeded to land three permit, including the beautiful fish pictured here. Needing a tarpon to finish his slam, Matsumoto proceeded to fish past sunset and was rewarded with this nice tarpon from a local marina. Congratulations Kensuke on an incredible trip!
