Clare's Trophy Golden Dorado
Horacio A. Clare III, IGFA Representative from Panama, was fishing the Parana River in Argentina last November when he landed this 97-centimeter (38-inch) dorado. Horacio was casting a lure when this large dorado struck, and after a spirited fight he was able to bring the fish in the boat just long enough to record the proper documentation before releasing the dorado safely. With this fish, Horacio becomes the first individual to enter the IGFA Trophy Dorado Club. The qualifications to enter this club require a fish to measure at least 80-centimeters (31.5-inches) in length, or weigh greater than 10-kilograms (22-pounds).
Elgrishi's Inshore Grand Slam
If an angler were to mention an IGFA Inshore Grand Slam, thoughts of snook, bonefish, tarpon or permit would come to mind. While those species make up the majority of the inshore slams, the IGFA currently hold, the species that qualify are not limited to that list of popular flats fish. Simon Elgrishi was able to land an IGFA Inshore Grand Slam on Christmas day and take advantage of some of the other species that qualify. Simon was fishing out of Tropic Star Lodge in Panama when he landed a cubera snapper, roosterfish, and a bluefin trevally on topwater. Congratulations Simon on an incredible slam and some festive attire.
