Kneer’s Sockeye Salmon

On August 4, 2024, William Kneer IV found himself in the heart of Alaska’s wild Kisaralik River when a fierce sockeye salmon smashed his KVD swimming jig. The fight was brief but electrifying, and when the fish came to hand, it measured an impressive 70 centimeters—enough to tie the IGFA All-Tackle Length World Record. With a quick measure on his IGFA Measuring Device and a safe release, William made sure this salmon lived to swim another day while etching his name in the record books.

Robertson’s Largemouth Bass

It was a day to remember for Julian Hart Robertson IV on November 17, 2024, as he cast his glide bait into Davis Lake, Florida. A massive largemouth bass exploded on his lure, kicking off a thrilling five-minute fight. At 59 centimeters, this catch wasn’t just big—it set the IGFA All-Tackle Length Junior World Record for the species. After carefully recording the length with his IGFA Measuring Device, Julian released the fish, ensuring it remains a legend in those waters.

De Sulocki’s Trahira

Brazil’s Xingu River is known for its aggressive fish, and IGFA Representative and Ambassador Ian-Arthur De Sulocki got a firsthand experience on July 15, 2024. While working a streamer fly, he hooked a 77-centimeter trahira that tore through the water before Ian skillfully brought it in. This catch smashed the IGFA All-Tackle Length Fly World Record for the species. After a quick measure on his IGFA Measuring Device, Ian released the record-breaking fish back into the jungle waters it calls home.

Hanzlik’s Grass Carp

A day that started as fishing a quiet canal in West Palm Beach, Florida, turned into a record-setting adventure for IGFA Ambassador Emily Hanzlik on September 2, 2024. Using bread as bait, Emily hooked into a massive 15.22-kilogram (33-pound, 9-ounce) grass carp. With expert skill, she landed the fish on her 3-kg (6 lb.) line, securing the IGFA Women’s 3-kg Line Class World Record. After recording the weight on her certified scale, Emily ensured the fish swam off safely, adding another milestone to her angling career.

Williams’ Blue Bastard

Craig Williams upped his own game on August 26, 2024, while fishing in Dampier, Australia. Casting a crab lure, Craig hooked into an 8.94-kilogram (19-pound, 11-ounce) blue bastard that put his skills to the test. When the fish hit the deck, it not only topped his previous best but set a new IGFA All-Tackle World Record for the species. After confirming the weight on a certified scale, Craig released the fish, proving once again why he’s at the top of his game.
