After an action-packed debut in 2025, the IGFA is excited to announce that the IGFA Open will be returning to Marina Pez Vela in Quepos, Costa Rica, for another unforgettable showdown in one of the world's premier billfish destinations. With adherence to IGFA rules, an optional Calcutta, and Costa Rica’s world-class fishing and hospitality, the IGFA Open is a premier billfish tournament that you will not want to miss! All proceeds from the IGFA Open will benefit the IGFA.
Last year's event made a spectacular debut with over 1,000 fish caught, including 988 billfish! After an intense competition, Team Galati dominated the leaderboard with an incredible 81 sailfish releases—48 in a single day—earning them the well-deserved championship title.
With live scoring powered by CatchStat and the stunning backdrop of Marina Pez Vela, the IGFA Open delivers an elite tournament experience for serious anglers. This is billfishing done right: IGFA rules, world-class hospitality, and proceeds supporting the future of our sport.
