Bahamas Camp

The IGFA hosted a Kids’ Fishing Camp in Abaco, The Bahamas, from 2014 to 2017 to introduce local youth to both spin and fly fishing. In working with Friends of the Environment (FRIENDS), a Bahamian non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve the environment of Abaco, The Bahamas through education, conservation, and research facilitation with a vision of living sustainably and being proud to be stewards of their island community’s rich biodiversity, and Bonefish & Tarpon Trust, whose mission is to conserve bonefish, tarpon and permit – the species, their habitats and the larger fisheries they comprise, the camp returned in 2024 and 2025 reaching youth from the North Abaco community of Coopers Town to teach them to become the next generation of guides and advocates for conservation.

Camp will return in 2026, but the IGFA and FRIENDS will travel to the island of Grand Cay and provide spin fishing education for local youth.
