IGFA Day represents a global celebration of angling on the anniversary of the IGFA’s establishment. In celebration of the IGFA’s 80th Anniversary and as part of our initiative to teach 100,000 kits to fish around the world, the 2019 IGFA Day will galvanize the organization’s international network around the theme of educating the next generation of ethical anglers.

Each year the IGFA acknowledges outstanding captains and crew members that have made significant contributions to sport fishing through the Tommy Gifford Award. Each year, the Tommy Gifford Award recipients are selected through a rigorous process conducted by the Legendary Captains and Crew Committee. This year’s awardees are Captains Peter Bristow, Bubba Carter, John Cross, Billy Knowles, Bruce Smith, and R.T. Trosset.
FREE Learn-to-Fish Clinic with Cape Hatteras National Seashore
Description: Learn basic fishing techniques and ethical angling practices through the International Game Fish Association’s Passports to Fishing Program! All fishing equipment will be provided. Fishing is catch-and-release only. Families are encouraged to bring beach chairs, water, and sunscreen!
Starting Saturday November 16th Bring the kids to learn fishing from Guy Harvey Resorts Junior Pro – Cricket Coates. Cricket and members of the Polk County High School Bass Fishing Team will teach junior anglers the basics of fishing in an engaging and hands-on manner as well as the importance of conservation. Junior anglers will be able to complete activities from knot tying, casting, cast netting, and conservation. Junior anglers will be provided a rod and reel kit to use during the clinic and a certificate of completion from the IGFA through its Passports to Fishing program.

Established in 1994, the Cane River Creole National Historical Park serves to preserve the resources and cultural landscapes of the Cane River region in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. Located along the Cane River Lake, the park is approximately 63 acres and includes two French Creole cotton plantations.
