Events Manager


The IGFA Events Manager is a key contributor to the fundraising activities of the organization. This position is the point person responsible for managing all IGFA key events including the IGFA International Auction, the annual IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame Ceremony, IGFA Tournaments, IGFA Tommy Gifford Awards and smaller donor centered events.   Ideally, this person has a strong interest in the IGFA mission and fishing in general.

Description of Responsibilities: 

  • Events (85%)
  • Organize, oversee, and implement IGFA premier events including, but not limited to:
  • IGFA International Auction (annual, based in S. Florida)
  • IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony (annual, based in Missouri)
  • IGFA Tommy Gifford Awards Ceremony (annual, based in S. Florida)
  • IGFA Annual Awards Ceremony (annual, based in S. Florida)
  • Annual Online Auction
  • IGFA Tournaments and Auctions (annual, California, Florida Keys, Mediterranean and S. Florida based)
  • Responsible for maintaining all fundraising and mailing lists for special event invitations, thank you letters, donors, certificates etc.
  • Responsible for data management related to events and attendees/participants
  • Manage auction processes including timelines, site development, item postings, vendor communications, payment processing, etc.
  • Manage reports that pertain to events (in-kind, attendance, etc.)
  • Attend communication meetings and coordinate communications around events
  • Other (15%)
  • Assist Development department and other departments and President with projects and events as needed 

Educational Requirements:  

Bachelor’s degree in related field.  

Experience and Skills: 

  • 5 years minimum experience in planning and executing special events (nonprofit, auction and/or tournament experience preferred) 
  • Well-developed quantitative, written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to take initiative/work independently 
  • Proficiency with MS Office and database management (experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar preferred) 
  • Experience with event management software
  • Experience with executing contracts with vendors (A/V, Entertainment, Hotels etc.)  

Physical Requirements: 

  • Based in Broward County  
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary 
  • Ability to travel outside of South Florida when necessary
  • Ability to lift 20lbs 
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Strong interest in IGFA mission and knowledge of fishing and aquatic environments preferred
