Pin's Snakehead
On August 12, 2022, Ng Yam Pin was fishing the waters of Rawang, Malaysia when he landed this beautiful 12.70-kilogram (28-pound) snakehead, setting the IGFA Men’s 10-kg (20-lb) Line Class World Record. Pin was casting a Duo Fangbait lure when this snakehead struck and he landed the record fish after a short battle. He then recorded the weight and proper measurements before releasing the record snakehead safely.
Gallagher's California Halibut
On November 29, 2022, Kesley Gallagher was fishing the beaches of Magdalena Bay, Mexico, when she landed this 2.95-kilogram (6-pound, 8-ounce) California halibut, setting the new IGFA Women’s 6-kg (12-lb) Tippet Class World Record for the species. The record halibut ate a Clouser minnow and was landed after a brief fight. After recording the weight on her certified scale, Kesley released the halibut safely.
Bluch's Rainbow Trout
On November 5, 2022, Aussie angler Frank Bluch was fishing the Tekapo Canal, New Zealand, with guide Nicor Sutherland, when he landed this impressive 9.90-kilogram (21-pound, 13-ounce) rainbow trout. With this fish, Frank set the new IGFA Men’s 1-kg (2-lb) Tippet Class World Record for the species. The record rainbow fell for a fly Frank calls the “Orange Monstrosity” and was landed after a 10-minute battle. Congratulations, Frank on another impressive IGFA World Record trout!
Ochmann's Wels
Joachim Ochmann was fishing the Rio Ebro, Spain, on October 1, 2022, when he landed this massive 63.80-kilogram (140-pound, 10-ounce) wels after a fight of nearly two hours! With this catch, Joachim set the IGFA Men’s 8-kg (16-lb) Line Class World Record for the species, and safely released the fish after it was properly weighed and documented.
Okuyama's Grass Carp
Fumiya Okuyama holds several IGFA World Records for grass carp and he has recently set another with this 109-centimeter fish that he caught on October 20, 2022, establishing the new IGFA All-Tackle Length Fly World Record for the species.
