Recap of the 2024 IGFA SoCal Swordfish Open

Celebrating Angling Legacy and Sporting Excellence in Southern California

The 2024 IGFA SoCal Swordfish Open recently wrapped up, the two-day tournament was held in iconic Southern California, thought of as the cradle of sportfishing. This tournament celebrates the history, the swordfish, and the anglers of the famed waters off Southern California.

The 2024 IGFA SoCal Open unfolded from November 8-10, bringing together 20 intrepid teams from ports across Southern California to chase the elusive deep-water gladiators of the Pacific. With the promise of glory and a coveted fishing trip with "Bad Company Fishing Adventures" on the line, anticipation ran high as anglers prepared to test their mettle in this prestigious event.

However, the swordfish proved elusive, adding to the suspense and challenge of the tournament. In the end, perseverance paid off for the winning team, "Cold Turkey", who landed a remarkable 360.8-pound swordfish to claim the top spot.

Close behind were the "Donkey Wranglers", securing second place with an impressive 328-pound catch. While only two fish were weighed, the spirit of competition and camaraderie among the teams was electric, showcasing the dedication and passion of the West Coast’s angling community.

The IGFA extends its heartfelt congratulations to all participants for their grit and sportsmanship.
