Weston’s Alligator Gar

On April 8, 2025, Art Weston was fishing Lake Livingston with guide, IGFA Captain Kirk Kirkland, when he landed this incredible 69.40-kilogram (153-pound) alligator gar. With this fish, Art has set the IGFA Men’s 1-kg (2lb.) Line Class World Record for the species, surpassing his previous record by an impressive 43 pounds! After recording the weight on his certified scale, Art was able to release the fish safely.

Bernstein’s Great Barracuda

Julia Mason Bernstein was fishing on the Miss Britt II, captained by Ray Rosher, on April 13, 2025, when she landed this 3.18-kilogram (7-pound) great barracuda. With this fish, Julia has set the IGFA Women’s 6-kg (12lb) Junior Line Class Record for the species. Julia’s fish marks the first Junior Line Class record to be set since the category was introduced on April 1, 2025. The record fish struck a cigar minnow and was boated after a short fight; Julia was then able to record the weight on her certified scale. Grasso’s Giant Trevally

On January 26, 2025, Max Grasso was fishing off Point Samson, Australia, when he landed this impressive 88-centimeter giant trevally. With this fish, Max has set the IGFA All-Tackle Length Junior World Record for the species. Max was casting a Daiwa bait junkie aboard the MICX captained by his father, Mick Grasso, when this record GT struck. After landing the fish, Max was able to record the length on his official IGFA Measuring Device before releasing the fish safely. 

Alvarez’s Great Snakehead

Ryan Alverez was fishing a canal in Pompano Beach, Florida, on April 23, 2025, when he landed this incredible 7.74-kilogram (17-pound, 1-ounce) great snakehead. With this fish, Henry has set the IGFA All-Tackle World Record for the species. The record snakehead struck a Z-Man chatterbait and was landed after a short but exciting fight. Henry then brought the fish to IGFA HQ to record the weight on a certified scale. Fun fact: Ryan is a former camper at the IGFA Fishing Summer Camp! 

 

 

McFadden’s Blackfin Snapper

On March 26, 2025, Michael McFadden was fishing off Stuart, Florida, when he landed this beautiful 4.72-kilogram (10-pound, 6-ounce) blackfin snapper. With this fish, Michael has set the IGFA All-Tackle World Record for the species. The record fish struck his live bait and was landed after a short fight. He then headed to an IGFA Weigh Station to record the weight on a certified scale.
