Support the Future of Fishing!
Help the IGFA Cast a Future of Conservation and Angling Inspiration
Since 1939, anglers like you have stood shoulder to shoulder through a shared love of sportfishing and a common purpose: to protect game fish, advance the science that drives their conservation, and preserve the traditions that bring us together.
For more than eight decades, the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) has built the foundation that makes that mission possible by advancing scientific research, teaching the next generation of anglers, and preserving the integrity of our sport. These efforts endure thanks to individual anglers like you who choose to take action for the future of fishing.
Every breakthrough in conservation, every young angler inspired, and every record-setting catch released begins with a single decision: to care deeply enough to make a difference. When anglers like you unite behind that belief, we move the sport and its legacy forward together.
You don’t have to take our word for it. The impact of your generosity speaks through the anglers, parents, and partners whose lives it has touched:
“As a charter captain fishing for billfish off Oregon Inlet, North Carolina, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of conservation research in sustaining our fisheries. The IGFA Great Marlin Race merges the excitement of sportfishing with vital scientific work, and I’m proud to support a program that helps preserve this incredible experience for future generations.”
– Captain Gray Blount, Desperado Sportfishing and IGFA Great Marlin Race supporter
Science that drives conservation - Approaching its 15th year in 2026, the IGFA Great Marlin Race continues to bring anglers and scientists together to generate critical data that directly informs the management and conservation of billfish. With more than 650 satellite tags deployed worldwide, we are deepening our understanding of these remarkable species, advancing their conservation, and demonstrating the power of anglers united through science.
"Thank you for the scholarship opportunity for Levi to attend IGFA’s fishing camp! In just three days, he went from needing constant help to confidently teaching his friends how to fish. The IGFA didn't just teach him fishing skills—it gave him independence and patience in a world of instant gratification. This is what quality education looks like."
– Shila Garrett, parent of Levi Garrett, IGFA fishing camper
Education that inspires the next generation - The future of fishing depends on informed, passionate young anglers, and that’s exactly what IGFA education delivers. In just six years, hands-on programs like Passports to Fishing and IGFA Youth Fishing Camps have taught more than 250,000 children worldwide the skills, ethics, and respect that define responsible anglers. Every child who learns to cast a line through the IGFA also learns to care for our waters, helping to create the next generation of stewards who will protect this legacy for years to come.
“At Untamed Angling, our partnership with the IGFA goes beyond recognition—
it reflects a shared commitment to protect our most valuable resource: rivers and their fish. For more than 20 years, we’ve worked to preserve pristine jungle waters within Indigenous Amazon territories, in close collaboration with the native communities who call them home. Standing with the IGFA strengthens our mission to conserve these extraordinary ecosystems while celebrating the passion, integrity, and excellence that define our sport.”
– Rodrigo Moreira Salles, IGFA World Record Holder and CEO & Co-Owner,
Untamed Angling Brazil Operations
Uniting Anglers Across Oceans and Cultures - From the Amazon River to the world’s oceans, the IGFA’s influence spans continents and cultures to unite anglers, scientists, and communities under one mission: protecting the waters that connect us all. Through IGFA World Records, International Angling Rules, and programs that promote ethical angling practices worldwide, the IGFA ensures that conservation knows no borders.
“The Roosterfish Research Program's discovery that roosterfish exist as distinct subpopulations is groundbreaking science that will transform how we protect this species. As an IGFA Trustee, I'm proud to support research that gives us the knowledge we need to ensure roosterfish thrive for future generations of anglers.”
– Karen Comstock, IGFA Trustee and supporter of the IGFA Roosterfish Research

Leading the Future of Game Fish Research -
At the heart of IGFA’s mission is a commitment to ask the questions no one else is asking—and to find the answers that shape the future of our sport. Through initiatives like the IGFA Roosterfish Research Program, we’re shining a light on species that have long been overlooked, generating data that guides effective conservation before populations reach crisis point. By identifying knowledge gaps and leading the research to fill them, the IGFA ensures that anglers, scientists, and fisheries managers alike have the tools to safeguard the game fish we treasure most.
“What I love about the IGFA is how it connects every part of our sport—from conserving our fisheries and advancing scientific understanding to celebrating great catches and inspiring future anglers. Supporting the IGFA means investing in the future of fishing, and knowing that my contributions help protect that legacy makes every gift worthwhile.”
– Lisa Everett, longtime IGFA supporter and donor
The Future of Fishing Depends on You - If you love to fish, then you already understand what’s at stake—and why it’s worth protecting. The IGFA exists because anglers like you decided that the future of our sport was too important to leave to chance.

For more than eighty years, we’ve pioneered the programs that make the greatest impact: advancing game fish research, inspiring the next generation of anglers, and preserving the integrity of angling. But the power to keep it going rests with you.
If you love to fish and care about the future of the sport, there's no better way to protect it than by standing with the IGFA. Please consider making your year-end gift by December 31, 2025, to help ensure that the IGFA begins the new year ready to protect what matters most. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, your gift may be tax deductible and can also be made through your Donor-Advised Fund (DAF).
Thank you for believing in this mission and for standing with us to safeguard the future of fishing—for today, and for every generation that follows.
With gratitude,

Jason Schratwieser, IGFA President
