Kowalski’s Blackfin Tuna
On June 1, 2024, Robert Kowalski was fishing off Miami, Florida aboard the Miss Britt when he landed this massive 22.71-kilogram (50-pound, 1-ounce) blackfin tuna. The record blackfin struck a live bait off a kite and was boated after a 20-minute fight. Robert then returned to Grove Harbor Marina in Coconut Grove, Florida for an official weight on a certified scale. With this fish, Robert has set the IGFA All-Tackle World Record for the species.
Szelag’s Wels
Agnieszka Szelag was fishing the Rio Ebro in Spain on September 6, 2024, when she landed this impressive 59.40-kilogram (130-pound, 15-ounce) wels. With this fish, Agnieszka has set the IGFA Women’s 24-kg (50 lb.) Line Class World Record for the species. She was able to land this record wels after a 70-minute fight; after recording the weight on her certified scale, she was able to release the fish safely.
Weston’s Alligator Gar
On September 19, 2024, Art Weston was fishing Choke Canyon in Texas when he landed this massive 96.16-kilogram (212-pound) alligator gar. With this fish, Art has set the IGFA Men’s 8-kg (16 lb.) Line Class World Record for the species. Art was fishing with IGFA Captain Kirk Kirkland aboard the Garship Enterprise when he landed this record fish. With this fish, Art now holds every available Men’s Line Class World Record for alligator gar.
Gredysa’s Black Sea Bass
Jan Gredysa was fishing off Shinnecock, New York, on November 10, 2024, when this 43-centimeter black sea bass struck his bait. Jan was able to land the fish after a brief fight. Jan then recorded the length on his official IGFA Measuring Device before releasing the fish safely. With this fish, Jan has set the IGFA All-Tackle Length Junior World Record for the species.
William’s Snubnose Pompano
On October 27, 2024, Craig Williams was fishing the flats of Dampier in Western Australia, when he landed this impressive 6.64-kilogram (14-pound, 10-ounce) snubnose pompano. With this fish, Craig has set the IGFA Men’s 8-kg (16 lb.) Tippet Class World Record. Craig was able to fool this record pompano on a crab fly. After recording the weight on his certified scale, he was able to release the fish safely.
