Duncan’s Cobia

On February 17, 2025, Koby Duncan landed this massive 79.60-kilogram (175-pound, 7-ounce) cobia to set both the IGFA All-Tackle and IGFA Men’s 24-kg (50 lb.) Line Class World Record for the species. Koby was fishing off Rottnest Island in Western Australia when this incredible fish struck his Z-Man JerkshadZ. After boating the fish, Koby returned to Fisherman’s Harbour in Freemantle for an official weigh-in on a certified scale. Koby’s fish shattered the previous record, set in 1985, by nearly 40 pounds!

Murray’s Red Grouper

Zachary Daniel Murray was fishing the Gulf of Mexico out of Florida on June 1, 2025, when he landed this 12.25-kilogram (27-pound) red grouper. Zachary was fishing aboard a 33-ft Grady White, Winding Down, captained by Richard Murray, when this red grouper struck his live grunt. After a 10-minute battle, he boated the fish and then returned to port for an official weight on a certified scale. With this fish, Zachary has set the IGFA Men’s 24-kg (50 lb.) Line Class World Record for the species.

 

Wilson’s Red Drum

On February 28, 2025, Gene Wilson was fishing off Alligator Point, Florida, when he landed this 95-centimeter red drum. With this fish, Gene has tied the IGFA All-Tackle Length Fly World Record for the species. The record redfish struck his fly and was landed after a 5-minute fight. Gene was then able to record the length on his official IGFA Measuring Device before releasing the fish safely.

Tamura’s Japanese Seabass (Suzuki)

Koichi Tamura was fishing in Urado, Japan, on April 30, 2025, when he landed this 87-centimeter Japanese seabass (Suzuki). With this fish, Koichi has set the IGFA All-Tackle Length Fly World Record for the species. The record seabass struck a gamechanger fly and was landed after a short fight. After recording the length on his official IGFA Measuring Device, he was able to release the fish safely.

 

 

Arostegui’s Smallmouth Buffalo

On May 28, 2025, Roberta Arostegui was fishing Walter E. Long Reservoir in Texas with guide Austin Anderson when she landed this 24.71-kilogram (54-pound, 7-ounce) smallmouth buffalo. With this fish, Roberta has set the IGFA 24-kg (50 lb.) Line Class World Record for the species. She was able to land the record buffalo after a 15-minute fight. After recording the weight on her certified scale, Roberta was able to release the fish safely.
