Family Camps

It became evident that families would only take their children to fish when the IGFA hosted an event. These family-oriented camps began in 2023 in response to the growing need for adults to gain the necessary skills and, more importantly, the confidence, to take their young anglers fishing on their own throughout the year, outside of only when the IGFA hosted an event. Programming adapts Passports to Fishing educational stations for family participation while incorporating advanced concepts for fresh or saltwater locations. Instruction covers gear selection, knot tying, casting techniques, species identification, and conservation practices. Families receive starter gear packages and comprehensive guides to local freshwater and saltwater fishing locations, reducing equipment barriers and improving ongoing access awareness.
