Cole’s Billfish Grand Slam

John M. Cole recently accomplished a fantastic feat on the fly. On November 16th, 2019, while fly fishing on the west coast of Guatemala, he landed a sailfish, striped marlin, and blue marlin all in the same day.

This terrific day on the water makes John only the second angler to accomplish the IGFA Billfish Grand Slam on the fly! Congratulations, John, on an incredible display of angling prowess.

The MacGregor’s Salmon Grand Slams

Father and son duo, Ewan and Grant MacGregor, recently ventured from Scotland to Seward, Alaska, to fish the Resurrection Bay for salmon. On August 13th, they became the newest members of the IGFA Salmon Grand Slam club. A day trip fishing for salmon yielded each of them a king salmon and several coho. Pink salmon were running in a nearby creek where they both completed the slam.

Congratulations, Grant and Ewan, and welcome to the club!

Ibsen’s Inshore Slams

Why complete one Grand Slam when you could have two? Jan Ibsen’s recent trip to Mahahual, Mexico, yielded him two IGFA Inshore Grand Slams on the fly. His first slam included a permit, bonefish, and tarpon, then three days later, he landed a permit, bonefish and snook in the same day!
