Turner’s Trout Super Grand Slam

Hal Turner had a fantastic day of trout fishing in southwest Montana on October 16, 2023. While fishing the Shields River, Hal landed a brook and brown trout on a dry fly and a beautiful rainbow and cutthroat on a streamer. With this incredible day of fishing, Hal has earned himself an IGFA Super Grand Slam on fly.

The IGFA’s Grand Slam Clubs honor the outstanding accomplishment of catching a collection of different game fish species within a single day. A “Grand Slam” is defined by an individual angler catching at least three of the eligible species within a category (see link), per IGFA International Angling Rules. All catches must be made within one calendar day, and all past and present catches are eligible, provided they are properly documented.
