The second-generation Viking 70 Convertible will make its world premiere at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Oct. 28-Nov. 1. The new 70 builds on Viking’s experience across its 68- to 72-foot range, with refinements aimed at performance, fishability and onboard space. The cockpit has been lengthened and measures 194 square feet, providing additional working room for the crew. Hull No. 1 will debut as an open bridge model with a Palm Beach Towers tuna tower. The flybridge features a walk-around center-console helm with three helm chairs and seating forward and to each side. Below the waterline, the 70 uses propeller pockets, VEEM propellers, Optimus electric power steering and three recessed trim tabs. Hull No. 1 is powered by twin 2,200 MHP MAN V12X diesels with an anticipated top speed of about 43 knots. The four-stateroom, five-head layout includes an aft crew stateroom with direct access to the engine room. Enclosed Bridge and Sky Bridge versions are also available.
