Laub's Tuna Royal Slam
Jens Laub finished the year with the final three of the eight required tuna species needed to complete his IGFA Tuna Royal Slam. Laub’s quest began 14 years ago in July of 2006 when he landed a skipjack and yellowfin tuna while fishing off St. Gilles, Reunion. In subsequent years he was successful in catching bigeye, blackfin, skipjack and bluefin tuna. This year he was able to successfully knock off the southern bluefin in Marion Bay, Australia, the longtail tuna in Exmouth, Australia, and the dogtooth tuna in Cooktown, Australia, to finish the slam. Congratulations, Jens, on some great catches and for becoming the newest member of the IGFA Tuna Royal Slam!
Knapp's Trout Super Grand Slam
On July 14, 2020, Reizo Bruce Knapp was fly fishing in Wyoming and scored an IGFA Trout Super Grand Slam. He landed a cutthroat trout in Soldier Creek on a BH Pheasant Tail, followed by a brown, rainbow and brook all in Tensleep Creek with a Frenchie Nymph. Congratulations, Reizo, on a great day of trout fishing.
Bone's Offshore Grand Slam
It is important to remember that both past and present catches qualify for IGFA Slam Clubs. On December 28, 2019, Mason Bone and his father set out of Puerto del Cabo Marina, Mexico in search of some pelagics. They headed north to the Sea of Cortez for an early wahoo bite then Mason finished the day with a nice mahi and yellowfin tuna. Congratulations, Mason, on an awesome day offshore.
