Arostegui’s Trophy Dorado Club

On January 22, 2023, Martin Arostegui was fishing in El Salto, Uruguay, when he landed this 91-centimeter dorado. With this fish, Martin has entered the IGFA Trophy Dorado Club. The IGFA Trophy Clubs recognize individual trophy game fish catches for certain eligible fresh and saltwater species.

To qualify for an IGFA Trophy Club, the fish must meet either the required length or weight; in this case, dorado must be 10 kg (22 lb) or 80 cm (31.5 in). You can learn more about IGFA Trophy Clubs, including how to apply, by clicking here.

Pearcy’s Billfish Royal Slam

On December 21, 2025, Daniel Pearcy landed a swordfish while fishing out of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. With this fish, Daniel has completed an IGFA Billfish Royal Slam, a quest that started on April 16, 1998, with an Atlantic sailfish release in Venezuela. Daniel traveled to Australia, Hawaii, Mexico and Guatemala to complete his Royal Slam.

The IGFA Billfish Royal Slam club requires catching an Atlantic blue marlin, Pacific blue marlin, black marlin, white marlin, striped marlin, Atlantic sailfish, Pacific sailfish, swordfish, and a species of spearfish, all on IGFA-compliant tackle and IGFA fishing rules.

The IGFA’s Royal Slam Clubs honor the outstanding accomplishment of catching a collection of different game fish species within an angler’s lifetime. For more information on Royal Slams, click here.
